CONTENTS: HOME THE CURMUDGEONS WILD FLORA OF THE NORTHEAST PAPER DOLLS OTHER LINKS ANITA'S ORIGAMI Here are origami models designed by me, with more to come as I scan them. At the end of this text is a link to the page of diagram links and a link to pictures of my origami exhibit at the Origami USA convention, June 2002. About the diagrams: I use standard origami notation plus a few arrows, with steps in a reverse-S pattern on the page. It is a logical arrangement to have each subsequent drawing next to or directly below the previous one, but it is unnatural for habitual left-to-right readers. So, to guide the folder along the path, I put in "air arrows" where there are no other directional arrows such as the flip (turn over) or tilt (rotate) arrows. Also, there is a "3-D" arrow to indicat Read More

I've been folding paper for quite a long time and have taught several classes in basic and advanced origami. I love folding and at lectures, restaurants, and business meetings, you'll often find me folding whatever paper is at hand. I once left about 30 varying models from 3" paper at a hair dresser's. Please see my copyright information if you are interested in copying any of the things here. EEK! - Cool Stuff - Frog Origami

. Jumping Frog Origami Today's origami figures begin with the simple folds first creased centuries ago. Mastering the basic folds, the valley fold and frog base is the first step in creating origami. Just about any kind of paper can be used for origami: newspaper, typing paper, wrapping paper, recycled paper, foil-backed paper or traditional origami paper, which is brightly colored on one side and white on the other. Complicated figures require a thin, crisp paper for best results. Thicker papers hold creases better, giving a clean line to simple designs. For this frog origami, you'll need a 3 x 5 card (like a recipe card). The most important thing to remember in choosing paper is that the dimensions of the sheet should be exact. If you're starting with a square sheet, for instance, measur Read More

Textured orchids and double- hulled canoes unfold in these original designs By Suzanne Tswei Special to the Star-Bulletin IT'S easy to see that the orchids sitting on Jodi Fukumoto's dinner table aren't the real thing. But there aren't any fake orchids quite like hers. Her orchids are pieces of paper. Each folded and unfolded, frontward and backward, sideway and crossway, pinched and pulled to form a life-size dendrobium, Honohono or cattleya with anatomical details. Origami Origami is the art of paper folding, originating from Japan, but now also very popular in the Western world. My favorite origami author is John Montroll, whose books (e.g., Origami for the Enthousiast , Animal Origami for the Enthousiast , Prehistoric Origami ) feature very detailed and beautiful models, mostly of animals. About the Model This model was created by Jeff Beynon, and is described (in Japanese) in Tomoko Fuse's book "Spirals." Unfortunately, simple pictures cannot fully express the folding that is necessary to complete it. These notes are meant to compliment the pictures in Fuse's book, hopefully making it easier to fold this model. Preliminaries The paper used for the model is very important.
